Earthdog is a great activity for your dogs if they like to chase after lizards, bugs, bunnies, mice, rats or other moving game. We never let our dogs catch or hurt another creature, but we do have live rats in a cage at the end of a tunnel.

The object of this game is for the dogs to go down a hole, go through the tunnel and find the rats at the other end. The tunnels are 30' long and 9" wide. There are 3 90-degree turns and a heavy-duty barrier at the end. The dogs can see and smell the rats (oh, boy!) but cannot touch them. The dogs are not allowed to catch or otherwise touch or damage the rats; they're to "work" the rats by barking, staring, digging, biting at the bars - in short, to be the mighty hunters they already think they are! Technically they're supposed to work the rats for 30 seconds but we're usually happy if they just make it to the end of the tunnel and find the rats!

All dogs of any breed or mix that are 18" at the shoulder are eligible to participate. No experience is necessary and we work with novices.

NOTE: we no longer have the earthdog tunnels because we weren't getting a good turnout, but we will still be holding quarterly or half-annual events by partnering with a dog club that does have the tunnels.
